The division’s fixtures were brought to a close last Wednesday when Alnmouth ensured a fifth place finish in their first season back in the Alliance with a comprehensive away victory at one of the rivals for the spot.
Fittingly played in pouring rain throughout, the visitors put in their best performance for some time and were soon ahead when Ryan Taylor was in position to find the net after Jorden Frost’s effort thudded back off a post.
Usually an outfield player, Andrew Martin turned out between the posts for the Seasiders and was able to display his agility with an acrobatic top corner save onto a post to protect the lead before the advantage was doubled on twenty minutes as Andy Murray placed wide of ‘keeper Josh Graham, having received from Matt Robson.
The deserved third followed as the break approached with Frost involved again as the centre back powered down the left and supplied a neat chipped cross to pick out Liam Jefferson at the far post, whose low header hit the target.
Martin was denied his clean sheet on seventy minutes when Robson was adjudged to have brought down Mitchell Ramsay in the area and Richie Coulson converted from the penalty spot.
Kevin Bell then restored the three goal lead as the campaign’s parting shot, diverting Brett Rogerson’s centre past Graham.
