With only one game to go in this season Saturday 30th April can not come quick enough for those involved at Alresford.

At least on Saturday we will know whether we are bottom or second from bottom in the table. It probably wont make any difference as the likelihood is that two teams will be relegated and two promoted in their place from Div 1.
There is a possibility that only one may go down as the Premier division is running one team short this season at 21 teams. Its a hope even though very small therefore that maintaining 20th position may be enough for our Premier status to be continued .
In what can only be described as an extremely disappointing season it would appear that we are to slip out of the top flight in the Sydenhams Wessex League for the first time in ten years. Itren those years we started by finishing 21st out of 23 teams, then 17th out of 22 for two seasons followed by 15th out of 22 for two seasons. Then came the glory years finishing second for two seasons before the mass exodus of the team and management to local rivals Winchester City. ( Interestingly enough only one remains at City - the managers were the first to go after 3 months) After last seasons finish in 16th place all we were looking for was stability and entertaining football. However that has not happened and it has turned into a hell of season and not in the usual sense of the phrase. We have used over 50 players in the first team out of 72 registered. On Saturday the defeat at Bemerton was humiliating for both the players and the officials of the club that were present. No wonder there were only three supporters there and they were relatives of the players. The Reserves included in the squad stepped in at the last minute due to the "unavailabilty" of regular first teamers. Too many times this season however we have been let down by no shows and late withdrawals.
It should be pointed out that we have had more than our fair share of injuries , some to key players who could have made a difference, hence the high cost of Physio treatment the club have paid for this season.
The players have also been lacking in discipline which can be proved by the high cost of fines we have paid on their behalf and that we are in the top part of the League table when it comes to points amassed for disciplinary points. Cant blame the referees as all teams have the same officials throughout the season.
It is obvious that things need to change whether we stay in the Premier or are relegated to Division One. To this end a meeting will be held on Monday May 9th at 7pm at Arlebury Park to discuss the way forward. An Agenda for this EGM will be posted nearer the time.
