Colts narrowly defeated despite second half comeback
Fantastic travelling support as a full coach departed a sunny Stelfox Avenue early on Sunday morning for the trek up to the Southern Lakes and the pituresque setting of Kirkby Lonsdale .
The squad were heavily depleted due to unavailability and injury with only 16 players able to make the trip. Kirkby had the better of the first half and capitalised through two tries, a conversion and a penalty to go into the break 15-0 in front.
Early in the second half Jay Thompson scored to give AK a lift and to give them a chance of pulling back the deficit with plenty of time still to play. Sadly they could not break through the Kirkby defence again to leave the game at 15-5 at the final whistle.
Thanks to everyone who made the trip and to the 1st XV for their support and generosity.
