three way fixture served up a feast of great rugby
Altrincham Kersal U14s are victorious in games against Marlow and Caldy.
Altrincham Kersal U14s hosted Marlow and Caldy in a three way fixture which served up a feast of great rugby. The hosts first game was against Caldy who had just played some impressive rugby to beat Marlow by 5 tries to 2. Caldy took a deserved lead after retraining possession for a number of phases of play to force their way over the Kersal try line. Kersal quickly struck back as Will Riley made a trademark surging run down the touch line to score in the corner. Kersal started the second half on top as Harrison Davies made a strong run towards the Caldy try line only to be held up but support from his team mates managed to drive him over the try line, Max Hastings converting. The match winning try came soon after as Josh Higgin smashed his way through a number of tackles to sprint the full length of the pitch to score a great solo try.
Final score AK 17 Caldy 5.
In the final game Kersal played our friends from Marlow in what is now an annual fixture and the sixth successive year we have played each other. The first half was evenly matched but a piece of individual skill from Maximus Nikou led to Kersal going into half time 5 pts up. Against a tiring Marlow defence Kersal dominated the second half with Ethan Steward sprinting the length of the field to score under the posts then a bulldozing run from Will Riley led to the Kersal backs moving the ball quickly down the back line for Josh Whittle to score, Max Hastings converting both tries to extend the lead to 19 pts to nil. In the last play of the game some intricate passing by the centres resulted in Maximus Nikou bursting free to touch down for another 7 pts.
Final score Kersal 26 Marlow 0.
This was a fantastic morning of rugby and Kersal showed what a great squad of players they now have to be victorious against two very strong teams.
