U16s storm through to Cheshire Bowl Final
season back to back finals for AK
In a repeat of last years evenly fought Bowl semi final AK travelled to Northwich, confident of progressing to a second successive final. AK dominated the early exchanges, but were not able to convert the possession into points. They eventually broke the deadlock mid way through the first half, Cormac Grieves finishing of a slick passing move. Sam Walsh doubled the lead soon after, breaking through the Northwich defence from 5 metres out. Northwich had their best spell of the game in the dying stages of the first half and pulled a try back shortly before the break. The half time whistle came at the right time for Kersal as they were losing their discipline towards the end of the half. The second half was a scrappy affair with both sides losing possession on a number of occasions. AK extended their lead to 17-5 when Jay Thompson finished off a great move in the corner, which Tom Gill converted. With 7 minutes left to play AK stretched the Northwich line and Gill saw a gap open up, he raced through to give AK a deserved win final score 22-5 and a place in the final in April.
