Tough, physical encounter results in a much deserved 1's victory 14-3

two much needed wins on the bounce, a great team effort!!

AK1XV (14) vs Warrington 1XV (3)
Heavy rain, mud and darkened skies, the back drop for the home visit to Stelfox Ave for Warrington, historically and truth be told, there's never any love lost between the two clubs, each setting out to gain the upper hand from the off.
A tougher match this season, we'll be hard pressed to find, our loyal spectators mightily rewarded in the first half as AK took the lead from a gritty, hard fought try from Doug Whyley, converted by Dave Coleman.
Warrington, were rattled, although the play was mainly dominated by the home side, a few heated moments were exchanged, where the referee had to step in more than once to calm tempers, both teams receiving yellow cards.
Warrington soon after were awarded a penalty, which was scored, half time score 7-3 to AK.
2nd half, both teams started as the other had ended, with the rain still lashing down and players finding the resulting heavy conditions difficult, it was AK who found themselves making the better of the set plays, AK's defence was strong, resolute and totally unforgiving, nothing was getting past and all the time, making good ground, pushing the visitors back into their own half.
Pressure from AK was consistent, which was duly rewarded with a great individual try from Matt Geiger, a try totally worthy of the passionate celebrations from his team mates, Dave Coleman again stepped up and kicked the conversion to move the scores to 14-3, the final score.
Bringing to a close a hard fought, passionate game of rugby, one in which AK were the deserved victors on the day.
With two great team performances and wins on the bounce and key players now returning to the squad from injuries, every match is approached with a "must win" attitude, AK demonstrating that they're still a force to be reckoned with in North One West.
