Vast swathes of the game belonged to 'Church in this second pre-season friendly, but Halesowen were able to capitalise in a ten minute period in the first half to claim a two goal lead, before the home side dominated the second half.
once again bossed the midfield, and provided a creative element that looks promising for the season ahead. He had 'Church's first two efforts around the quarter hour mark.
again proved his worth with a fine point blank save on 23 minutes after Halesowen had opened up the 'Church defence with smart interplay on the edge of the box.
And somewhat against the run of play the visitors took the lead on the half hour. A cross from 'Church's left flank was stroked in from close range in a rare threat on goal.
Worse still ten minutes later when Halsowen finished a brief period of pressure with a second goal. Ex-Alvechurch player Brendan Kelly connected with a corner only to see his header strike the outside of the post. From the ensuing clearance the ball was lashed back through the crowded goalmouth low into the right hand corner of the goal.
The second half definitely belonged to the home side, with 'Church dominant on midfield and the visitors passing and possession often appearing shambolic.
There was a goal to show for the pressure on 53 when a ball through the middle was mis-cued by Kelly, and Andy Nicol
pounced to challenge 'keeper Flower on the edge of the box, managing to lift the ball over the Halesowen number one and neatly onto the head of Jow Wright who planted his header into the net from six yards.
Great shape, great effort, and no mean amount of quality too.
So far so good!
