Facing the champions, Wonder Sporting, Amagents knew this would be a tough encounter. However, with safety assured there was an almost party atmosphere at Lekhubu on Saturday afternoon.
With Laverick still in Poland and Dodo unavailable, MB - possible playing his - final game took on the role of coach for the day.
With several players having other commitments, it was a squad trimmed to the bone although it was good to welcome Messi and Matthew back.
For the majority of the first half Amagents were the better team, creating the most chances even if they had less possession. Pako and Jo both went close, but it was the away team who took the lead in the 10th minute.
Amagents continued to create but heads went down when Killer conceded a soft penalty to make it 2-0.
Just before the break, Wonder made it 3 when one of their midfielders cut inside, et loose with his left foot and sent a screamer into the top of the net.
Straight after the break it was four, but Amagents immediately pulled one back. Messi playing a great ball to find Three, who in turn found Pako. Pako made no mistake, completing a run of scoring in the last four games.
At this point Amagents lost their shape completely as the whole team attacked, trying to narrow the deficit. Wonder scoring at will, with even the introduction of Laverick-Elliott failing to stem the tide.
Three did score something of a consolation goal, but in all honesty it was a day to forget for the home team.
“All in all, not very good. Everyone was in good spirits though, reporting back for pre-season training in July apparently,” said Laverick-Elliott after the game.
His brother, the coach, was less amused. “It is a shame to end the season in such a way, especially having defended so well all year. We have learnt a lot this year, but some of the players need to remember it is discipline and tactics that win games, not raw skill!”
For Wonder Sporting Club it was a great way to finish their championship season, and Amagents wish them all the best in the promotion play-offs.
