Ambleside record first victory for a long time
Ambleside were looking to bounce back after their disappointing loss to Kirkby Lonsdale last week. Dispite the loss Woody did pick up five wickets, Tush batted for 25 overs for 4 runs and Barney got a new nickname (fluffer). His bowling really does allow the stars to perform, keep fluffing mate, your roll is vital to the team despite you not getting any credit!
Saturday's game saw Shireshead A making the long trip up to Ambleside to be greeted by a very damp outfield and the boundaries brought in a wee bit but, what was nice to see, was a dry pitch, covers do work it seems! Oli won the toss and decided to have a bat and immediately got himself out for 4 attempting to launch the ball towards the short boundary. Ambleside battled on though, they have needed to this season as more often than not Oli has found himself back in the hut fairly quickly, and made 151 all out with Johno (57) and Tudor (26) the main contributors. After tea Barney warmed up the bowlers ready to perform and boy did he do well. As usual he kept it tight but got no wickets allowing Oli (3 wickets) and Dan (7 wickets) to double team the batsmen reducing Shireshead to 51 all out. Ambleside picked up 15 points for their team effort, well played lads.
Player of the match is simple today, Dan 'the soon to be comb over man' Southworth for his 7-15, coming on after Barney, just my thoughts though as usual.
