Ambleside on the brink after crushing win
Westgate A taught a taugh lesson
Ambleside enjoyed a successful afternoon at Westgate who found themselves 7-5 early in their innings after deciding to have a bat first. It was the 'Locksmith' Oli Wileman, who has found ways to unlock batsmans defenses all season, who began the wicket fest with brother Barney chipping in with a few two. Barney found himself on a hatrick but a mini partnership haltered the onslaught of wickets for a few overs before wickets 6,7,8,9 came in a flurry, all back in the hut. Star player Ben superbly ran out the last player who was wondering outside his crease after a loud LBW appeal, lessons to be learnt for the youthful looking Westgate A team. All bowlers deserve a pat on the back as they stuck to the plan of bowling Westgate out cheaply and all picked up wickets. A lovely tea was taken before Ambleside knocked off the 37 runs required to win the game for the loss of 3 wickets. Flags were collected and the square roped off in double quick time by the Westgate players so Ambleside enjoyed a winning beer! Player of the game - young Ben for his excellent reactions in the field to pick up a run out - just all my thoughts and opinions though as always.
Ambleside welcome Netherfield next week, could promotion and the championship be sealed?
