The football World Cup kicks off in Brazil on June 12th, with the final to be played on Sunday 13th July at 8.00pm. Being as this is the day after the wheelbarrow race and a few could do with a hair of the dog, we will be running a blind sweepstake giving you an excuse for another evening in the club.

Details are as follows:

32 sealed envelopes, with a team inside every one, can be bought over the bar for £5.00 each. You randomly select an envelope, write your name on it and give it back.

All envelopes will be kept in the safe until after the final whistle has been blown and we know who has won this years World Cup. Effectively, you don't know what team you have got until the competition has finished and the envelope opening ceremony has been done. This will be bigger than the closing ceremony happening in Rio.

Let's try and make it a good Sunday in the club, and, as a rule, you must be there to open your own envelope! All envelopes will be opened on the night and if the person with the winning team is not present, their proceeds will go to charity.

Prizes will be £100 for the winner, £40 for the losing finalist and £20 for the winner of the third placed play-off.

Quite simple really, buy and envelope and be there on the 14th to watch the World Cup final and just cross your fingers that you haven't picked out England!
