Positive Message from new Club Chairman Jason Abbot

It is with great regret that my first email as the new Chairman of Anselmians is to inform you all of bad news. On Sunday after a resounding success on and off the pitch for the U15’s Cheshire Finals the club was broken into that night and the Safe and tills were taken amounting to around £5,300 plus damage to the club alarm, doors and bar area.
It is a massive blow to the club and particularly all those who put the hard work into making the day such a success in what looks like a targeted attack.

On a more positive note I am very excited about the future direction that is being planned for the club. The Development of our new clubhouse is edging nearer and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Directors including David Hunt as outgoing Chairman for all of their hard work in bringing the proposal together. When Jamie Kimpton spoke to me about the proposals and where the vision of the club is at, it didn’t take me too long to accept the offer to become Chairman.

The plans (which have been sent to members and are displayed in the club house) are different from previous plans whereby the club will assign part of the land in place for a new clubhouse and parking facility which will serve as a focal point for the local community. The new facility which has a build cost of £900k + vat will not have to be found in hard cash or bank borrowing but will be funded by the developer. A contribution towards the Vat and the pitches remains for the club to find but we are confident that we can meet this after the club showed improved financial results at the last AGM. The new clubhouse will enable new revenue streams which will be all important and continue this trend

My son Koby plays in the U8’s where I am team admin manager. I confess to knowing very little about the Laws of the game but I'm very keen to learn so please feel free to impart some wisdom on me as and when we meet. Since being involved for the last 3 years the thing that has struck me about this club is the family values which spreads much deeper than blood line. I have been asked to take this role to galvanise support from the biggest section of the Club – The Minis and Juniors. The committee see that for the club to grow and fulfil its potential with its great new facility as planned then we need to ensure that the playing ranks grow in the lower age groups to ensure we can continue to feed the First teams. We have great talent at this club both on and off the field and we want to channel this to everyone's benefit.

There are new and existing roles that we are looking to fill, if you are considering getting involved I would urge you to contact myself or one of the committee members for a chat.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can, My aim is to bring value to the club and carry on the great work that David has started.

Warm regards

Jason Abbott
