History

After the second world war Appleby Frodingham where one of the founder members of the Lincolnshire League. In the mid seventies they played in the Midland League before moving to the Northern Counties East League. In 1986 the then management and team moved mid season to Winterton Rangers. Frod reformed, and after three years in local football they returned to the Lincolnshire League in 1990.
The early and mid nineties was Frod's most successful period winning the league, county and challenge cups. In 1998 with chairman Ron Bailey at the helm, a five year plan to install floodlights and enter a team in the U19 Alliance League was set up. With the help of our governing body the Works Athletic Club, we shared the cost of £40,000 to install the floodlights and have them up and running by November 2000.
After thirteen years in the Lincolnshire League, we joined the Central Midlands Premier Division in season 2003/04. Under the guidance of the management team of Mark Jenkinson and John Simpson we made an average start, but after mid December we had a run of fourteen games without a defeat that lifted us to fourth place in the final league table.
This with the reorganisation of the leagues above the Central Midlands assured that we were promoted to the supreme league. The first two seasons we finished in the top half of the league and also reached the semi-finals of the floodlit and Challenge Cup, only to be beaten by Barton. Last season after a promising start in the second period we had a string of defeats and finished just above the relegation zone.
Our thriving junior section over the weekends run 26 teams, including several girls teams, from the age of eight to sixteen who compete in local leagues. We also run a popular free kids club for U5's on Saturday mornings. In 2005 we were nominated for the FA Charter Standard Community Club National Award. Regretfully, we were not among the regional winners, however Appleby Frodingham was the Lincolnshire FA winners at county level and then again in 2007.
