Newark 2-6 Appleby Frodingham
2 consecutive away wins
At last Frod seem to have grasped an understanding of starting fast, and were 1-0 up on 4 minutes. A flick on from Stu Longbone found Tom Wilson on the edge of the area, and a smart turn and tidy placed finish was enough to beat the keeper.
Frod continued with the momentum to create a series of chances, all of which were squandered. But on 20 minutes frod extended their lead when Robin Woodforth found the net with the rebound from a save by the keeper. This spurred Frod on and within a minute, a long ball found Tom Dent, who took it down with a great first touch, sent a defender the wrong way, and smashed his finish high into the net.
On 30 minutes frod went 4-0 to the good, when Tom Wilson gathered the ball about 20 yards from goal, and with a smart turn and great strike beat the keeper high to his left.
Frod took their foot of the gass for some reason at this point and allowed Newark to have too much of the ball. This proved to be costly as Frod lost their clean sheet on 34 minutes
Half time 1-4
After the break Frod again came out playing some nice tri-angles around the pitch but especially in the wide areas, and a move on 58 minutes saw Craig Shorthose find Ryan Short for frods 5 goal. The game continued with the same pattern of Frod doing the pressing and on 66 minutes a corner (delivered by Wilson) was met by Stu Longbone with a great header. With Frod leading 6-1, the referee gave what seemed a very soft penalty, but was met with little argument from Frod, probably because of the score line cushion. The spot kick was converted and a final score of 6-2 to Frod was well deserved
