Appleby Frodingham 3-3 AFC Bentley
3-0 down to 3-3
So back at home for the first time in a couple of months, and it showed as Frod struggled in the first half, and possibly our home advantage caused us to freeze a little. The opening 20 minutes were quite cagey, with a bit of a stalemate, but a poor touch at the heart of frods defence allowed the visitors to take the lead. Frod went into their shells after this and Bentley grew in confidence, and with their deep lying midfielder run the show, started to put a lot of pressure on the Frod back line, especially down their left flank.
Frod fell further behind on 30 minutes, and looked to be struggling to cope with the directness of Bentley's attack, this was how the first half would continue, and it was a blessing to get the team in only 2 adrift at half time
Half time 0-2
Frod came out on the front foot in the second period, and were the stronger side, but just as in the first half, they didn't see the danger of the oppositions centre midfielder and he cut us open again and we found ourselves 3-0 down. This signified the changes from the bench (60 minutes)and on 70 minutes a Luke Robinson cross found Tom Wilson at the far post, to head home. Frod continued to push, and with Bentley seeming to drop in deep, and hold what they had, Frod also changed their formation with the introduction of Tom Beasley, and going to 433. On 88 minutes this payed dividends, as Tom Beasley crossed for Tom Wilson to get his second with a nicely placed strike.
Frods tails were up, but it seemed time was against them, but Bentley had been trying all tactics to run the clock down, and the referee added the time on. A long ball from keeper Jordan Quibel found Tom Beasley again and a ball in found Zak Shipman feet and a rash challenge saw the ref give a penalty. Luke Robinson stepped up to Cooley place it in the bottom corner.
Great character was shown in this second half, and sometimes you make your own luck by working hard
