By way of introduction, Gordonians Cricket Club is an ambitious, local amateur sports club. We have a long playing tradition and association with the local independent Robert Gordon’s College school (RGC) dating back to the 1920’s.
We have achieved regular on field success and can rightly claim to have produced a range of players from international class right through to the local amateur enjoying his weekend game. At the same time, in recent years we have developed an open membership and inclusive club comprising players and volunteers from a variety of sources. We have in excess of 70 members and this number continues to grow despite the many alternative leisure pursuits available.
Our members range from former professional players to students with one common binding factor - a love for cricket. The club has some of the best training and playing facilities in Aberdeen. Our home ground at Counteswells is a certified world class location and hosted the visiting New Zealand cricket team training in 2008 and Ireland and Canada in 2009. We are the only cricket club in this part of Scotland to have direct access to our own regular indoor training facilities.
RGU: SPORT is the venue for our indoor training and is a designated London 2012 Olympic Training Venue. The club has now expanded to include four teams in its portfolio in addition to developing an innovative partnership with a major local university including mentoring the first ever Robert Gordon University cricket team.
