Ashby Teach Leek A Lesson

Bulls return to winning ways

After a turbulent two weeks of away matches and stinging losses, Ashby returned home to face Leek and hopefully put the recent frustrations behind them. The Bulls did not disappoint and the lads appeared focused from the opening kick, quickly catching Leek by surprise and carrying the ball over the try line. Ashby continued to pile on the pressure, keeping the opposition in their own half for much of the first 35 minutes. The Bulls managed to rip the ball from the hands of Leek on numerous occasions, giving Ashby the possession to execute set pieces, which the lads had worked so hard on during recent training sessions. A second try and conversion gave Ashby a 12 - 0 lead at the half time whistle.

Ashby continued to dominate the game in the second half, much as they did in the first. Strong scrummaging by the forwards enabled the backs to distribute the ball with accuracy, which resulted in the Bulls breaking through Leek's defensive line time and time again scoring another four tries with one conversion. Ashby had a number of opportunities to increase the tally of tries but lady luck was somewhat on the side of Leek. Ashby showed their strength of character and drive to succeed today after the recent defeats and Leek were the team to pay the price. Ashby did not even allow Leek to get on the scoreboard, ending the game with a convincing victory and a final score Ashby 34 Leek 0.

A good, solid, team performance today ...............well played lads.
