The coaches drummed in two messages pre match. Go down with the ball and drive over. Keep the line in place at all times.

And by gosh Jeeves it worked.

It was great to see two Ashfield players stepping over their team mate and protecting that ball. It was even better to see that having kept possession there was a back line to pass out too.

It took dogged defending by both sides to stop each other scoring. Kai Poxon came very close after Cellan Shacklock popped one into his hands as he came steaming down the wing but was just edged into touch.

Rotherham did manage to batter their way over the line to score but failed to convert in very windy conditions. It looked as though they had done enough however as the clock gradually ran down.

Ashfield were awarded a penalty on the half way line and instead of having their usual cup of tea and a biscuit to discuss what they were going to do and some screaming from a certain coach, there was a quick tap and go and some fine passing and after several pairs of hands Cellan Shacklock went over to equalise.
