Wouldn’t it be great if we had a cricket team?… We could have the longest cricket club name…. AOMRUFCCC…
Many a year passed since the first mutterings of such an idea on a drunken Sunday session between the club founders… Morrell, Barker and Ferguson… amongst others!
The club was formerly recognised in the summer of 2009 by the ECB and with such identification the plan was hatched to bring cricket to Ashton’s idiots and to those lucky enough to escape the villages nearby.
Playing out of the Banky Lane clubhouse is a dream yet to be realised, but there are advantages to playing away every match…A touring side breeds all nature of tomfoolery!
