Town progress though in the Wigan Cup, with their second win in as many games in the competition.

With the added bite of last seasons Town development squad Manager Jon Lister now being at the helm at Garswood, it made out to be a great local game.

Ashton were in control start to finish, however midway through the first half it was made a little harder when Town centre mid James Ludgate (pictured) reacted to a challenge, and quite rightly recieved a straight red.

It wasnt to change the game though, and bar a last minute effort which Town keeper John Courtney tipped over Ashton had the better over Cheshire side Garswood.

Town went 1 0 up following a quick free kick from Michael Cushion, and then an outstanding first time cross from Brad Smart which was met by strike partner Connor Durrans to hit home excellently.

Adam Campbell got the second in what must have been his first touch after coming on as a rolling substitute, hitting a long range effort looped into the back of the goal.

Despite the sending off Town went on to have the better chances in the second half, with Campbell hitting the post, Daley Woods having a header cleared off the line, and Aaron McGrath with a great take down, but failed to round the keeper.

Onwards to March now, when the competition goes to the quarter final stages.
