A Josh Pattison penalty on 11 mins was scant reward for the hard work put in by Ashton. The seconds remain in top spot.

Ashtons younger Colts team played with pride and passion in a strongly contested local derby. Early home pressure from the start could not be converted and Oldham scored 3 well taken first half tries to lead 0-21 at the break. The second half was to be much closer and was scoreless for a large part until Oldhams full back made a break for the try of the game and 0-28. Ashton pressured to the end and were rewarded with fast hands leading to a try out wide for full back and Man of the Match Ian Spiller who had been faultless under the high ball, well played both teams.
Ashton U16s 26-24 Glossop U16s
Viva Ashton 16s Mark Grayson took charge assisted by Pietschy as Griff was on holiday.
An unexpected treat of a sunny autumn morning helped both teams entertain a decent sized crowd with a close game. Ashtons numbers were up to 17 and welcomed newbie George to the ranks.
Joel Hatton broke the deadlock after 15 mins with a jinking run catching the opposition on the back foot for 5-0, the visitors began to impose themselves on the game pressing Ashton and eventually getting over to level the score at half time.
The second half Ashton had the slope advantage on the training pitch but it was 14 man Glossop that played the better rugby for 20 mins scoring 3 tries for a lead of 5-24.
Ashton restarted the third try well and regained possession, Jack Pietsch saw the gap and galloped home for 12-24 with Callaghan converting.
Captain Louis Worthington was always a threat and epitomised Ashtons spirit with the third try converted for 19-24. Ashtons confidence had returned and pressured the visitors line and Aron Lancaster crashed over for the try to level it with minutes remaining, the conversion was cooly slotted by Callaghan for the lead.
Worthington nearly got his second try at the end but Glossop made a great try saving tackle and scrambling defence snuffed out the attack, Ashton saw the game out for a memorable victory.
Ashton U14s 0-30 Glossop U14s
A tough morning for the 14s against a talented Glossop side.
Ashton U10s win at Orrell, Oliver got 10, Molly Walmsley 5 , Max scored and Elliot got his first try with Kendal Grayson also getting on the scoresheet completed a good mornings rugby.
