Ashton under 12s played host to Cheadle at the weekend and in true sportsmanship they lent a couple of the Ashton players to Cheadle who were short on numbers. Thomas Bain started in the Ashton goal and deflected several goal bound efforts onto the posts. Dominique Nuttall and jack jones put in fine performances at the heart of the deference and daniel rogers, jack newall and Morton Williams worked heard in the midfield as they tried to get the upper hand in a well contested midfield battle. harry warren and Will Farrell the Ashton attacked kept the Cheadle defence on its toes and Imogen Butler put in player of the match performance with her competitive spirit shining through as she got stuck in to the action. Ashton played some excellent lacrosse and scored some top class goals but unfortunately Cheadle ran out 9-4 winners.

The Cheadle coach thanked the Ashton players, Bethany Walker and Declan Morton who helped Cheadle to victory and was impressed with the effort that all the Ashton players had put in to make it a great game. Coach Newall said “Lacrosse was the winner today, both teams were evenly matched but Cheadle were sharper in the attacking 3rd. It was great to see our more experienced players supporting the younger ones which is what playing for this team is all about”. Ashton travel to Norbury at the weekend as they look to get back to winning ways.
