Joel Sanderson-Murray previews Saturday's home tie

Momentum is a huge factor in football, a few bad results on the spin can leave you pining for momentum and the lack of it could destroy a season. However, if you can find good momentum in the way of some consecutive positive results then it really can change the outlook on a season.

Ashton United have finally found some momentum and have it intact at the moment picking up three successive wins in all competitions after despatching of Northwich Victoria 1-0 in the League Cup on Tuesday night.

The cup win over Victoria could of and should have been by more goals but the level of the performance will certainly impress joint managers Will Haining and Jody Banim.
It is back to the bread and butter this week and The Robins will be pleased they have a chance to extend their form at Hurst Cross as they play host to Halesowen Town.

United sit in 14th currently 8 points off where they are aiming to be in the playoffs but with how tight it is in the playoff places a few more wins could put The Robins in a strong position.

Saturday’s visitors Halesowen Town are in a bit of a sticky patch currently with just 1 win in the last five games, on 31 points in 19th position.

Saturday's game will see a couple of pre-match events. Matt Chadwick will be presented with an award for reaching 100 games for the Robins and we will also have visitors from East Lancashire Mark Benevolent fund who will be formally opening our medical facilities.

The game kicks off at 3pm. Why not join us early and watch Premier Division football on the TV screens in the club before the game. We also have Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur on afterwards.

There is free onstreet parking adjacent to the ground and cheap beer and food, all in the ambiance of one of the oldest continually played on football stadiums in the world. Why wouldn't you join us?
