Hollis Takes The Chair!

Ashton United are pleased to announce that Acting Chairman Terry Hollis has accepted the position of Chairman of the club on a permanent basis. Hollis has steered the club as Acting Chairman over the past 9 months, a period that has seen the club consolidate off the field of play and achieve outstanding success, for a ‘small Club’, last season, by reaching the EvoStik Northern Premier League play off final.

Hollis said, ‘I indicated when I became Acting Chairman that I wanted only what was good for Ashton United, and that if a suitable candidate for the Chairman’s role was found, I would relinquish the position and fully support the incumbent person. The Board has worked hard over my recent tenure to ensure that the club is on a sound footing and preparing for promotion to a higher league; if we remain successful. We have not identified ‘new blood’ capable of adding value to our Board of Directors so I have decided that the time is now right to accept the role on a more permanent basis, on the understanding that if a suitable candidate does come along, I would be pleased to move sideways.’

At last night’s board meeting Hollis was elected Chairman unanimously by the Directors. At the same meeting the Board elected Steve Hobson as Vice Chairman of the club. Steve said, ‘I am delighted that Terry has accepted the role of Chairman and that the board has the confidence in me to be his ‘right hand man’. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and am excited about working closely with Terry and the rest of my fellow Directors to help Ashton United thrive and prosper.
