Jody Banim and the team will be hoping to bounce back by earning points against 7th placed Boston United.
Boston United will also be looking for a win, having lost their last match 3-1 at home to Brackley Town, with Jordan Slew getting on the scoresheet for Boston in the 65th minute. Boston have won 3 of their last 5 in the league, so will be hoping to claim another scalp on Saturday. Ashton United will have to be at their best to secure a result.
ONE TO WATCH
The player Ashton United should look out for is 23 year old midfielder Brad Abbott. Abbott has scored 3 goals so far in the league this season including a brace against FC United of Manchester in a 3-0 win in a player of the match performance and a goal in Boston’s 4-0 win against Blyth Spartans, where he again picked up the player of the match award.
Abbott started his career in the Barnsley youth academy, working his way up through the ranks and breaking into the first team in 2013. He played 5 league games for the senior side before several loan spells at Harrogate Town, Chester and Barrow. He scored 1 goal in this period for Chester.
Abbott then moved to Buxton after being released by Barnsley, where his performances impressed the management team at Boston, who signed him for an undisclosed fee in 2017 and in his first season for the Pilgrims he scored 4 goals.
The Robins will have to be vigilant to make sure this young midfielder can’t pull the strings in midfield for Boston.
OTHER FIXTURES IN FOCUS
Other fixtures fans may want to keep an eye on are:
