ASHTON UNITED VS DARLINGTON F.C.
DATE: MONDAY 27th AUGUST 2018
VENUE: Hurst Cross, Surrey Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 8DY.
Ashton were unlucky to draw last time out away at Southport. The Robins led 2-0 going into half time with Matty Chadwick and debutant Bradley Jackson showing their quality in front of goal and getting on the scoresheet. However, 2 goals without reply in the second half from Southport meant that they were able to salvage a point.
The whole team will be looking to recapture their early season form, with a win at home against Darlington this Bank Holiday Monday. In turn, The Quakers will also be trying to complete a good performance against the Robins to put two disappointing results behind them. A 5-2 loss away to Kidderminster and a 3-0 loss at home to Altrincham.
With Ashton and Darlington lying 16th and 17th in the table respectively, fans on both sides can expect a close hard-fought match.
ONE TO WATCH:
The player Ashton United fans should watch out for is the man leading the line for Darlington, 29-year-old Reece Styche. He has been in good form this season, scoring 5 goals in as many games, including a hat trick against the Robin’s previous opponents Brackley Town.
The journeyman striker has played for numerous clubs including Forest Green Rovers, for who he scored 35 goals in 108 games and Wycombe Wanderers during a loan spell, making his first appearance for the then League 2 team against Mansfield Town. His form for Forest Green may have also contributed towards him earning a cap for the Gibraltar national team in 2014.
