Ashton travel again in The FA Cup, Written by Robbie Coppack

Following Tuesday night’s hard fought win over Lancaster City, gaffer Jody Banim prepares the Robins for a trip to Sam Smith’s Park as Ashton face Newcastle Benfield in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round.
Newcastle Benfield come into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Penrith. The manager Mark Convery will be looking for a reaction from his players as The Lions already come into the game as underdogs so Newcastle Benfield will be looking for a scalp as they look to advance past the second round for the first time in nine years.
Despite Ashton’s win over Lancaster in midweek, Jody Banim told Ashton United TV that he wasn’t pleased with some aspects of the performance, he said
“I thought we played okay in patches in the first half but I don’t we played well at all second half, it’s two mistakes from the goalkeeper in my mind that has won us the game in the end”
Jody continued: “I think we could have been a lot better in possession, we have given the ball an awful lot tonight and that put us under pressure. We didn’t hold the ball up well enough and we didn’t keep it well enough in midfield and I want us to play out from the back a lot more than we did, I thought we looked scared at times when things started to go against us.”
One to watch
Experienced Paul Brayson is one to watch for The Lions, the former Cardiff City striker has already found the net twice this season in spectacular fashion scoring a brilliant free kick last time out and an well executed lob over Whitley Bay in the last round.
Prices are as follows:
£6 for Adults
£3 for Concessions
