Changes to the Boardroom dynamics at Hurst Cross

We have as valuable a team behind the scenes at Hurst Cross as we do on it.
- Chairman Terry Hollis

The Board at Ashton United has had a reshuffle in preparation for the challenges of the 2016/17 season. Quickly putting the disappointment of losing out in the EvoStik Northern Premier League Premier Division play offs for the third season in a row, each time after a period of extra time, Chairman Terry Hollis has streamlined the off field structure by appointing several members of the board to defined roles.

Terry Hollis said, ‘We have as valuable a team behind the scenes at Hurst Cross as we do on it. In keeping with the ethos of good team work I decided the best way to improve even further was to give a number of Executive Board Members specific responsibility and accountability for an area of the business. This will make us more efficient with the decision processes quicker than they may have been in the past.’
‘Executive Board members will report back to me on their area of operation and have the luxury of operational support from the rest of their Director colleagues. This will save time by reducing the number of meetings and hopefully energize everyone as we prepare for the new season.’
The Executive Board Members and their area of responsibility are:

Chairman: Terry Hollis - Overall Responsibility
Vice Chairman: Steve Hobson - Communication, Community Engagement & Commercial
Financial Director: Denise Pinder - Club Finance
Assistant Financial Director: Jackie Tierney - Club Finance
Facilities Director: Andrew Evans - Hurst Cross Ground, Matchday facilities and operation.
Social Club Director: Tony Collins - Ashton United Social Club

The current Board of Directors will remain the same, each member acting in a support role to the Executive Directors, as and when the need for their expertise is needed. Director, John Milne, a former Chairman himself, of Ashton United, said, ‘Those board members who do not have an Executive role fully support the changes in structure as we all recognise that this new way of working is in the very best interests of the club we all love so dearly.’

Vice Chairman Steve Hobson said, ‘Reverting to this business model brings the best of both worlds to Ashton United. We streamline the systems and processes and, at the same time, ensure that the massive wealth of experience of nonleague football that we have across our board is not lost. The club is continuing to make steady progress and I am looking forward to the new season already’
