A Trip to Runcorn is up Next for the Robins, Written by Daniel Evans

RUNCORN LINNETS VS ASHTON UNITED FC
DATE: TUESDAY 17TH JULY 2018
KO: 7:45PM
VENUE: Millbank Linnets Stadium, WA7 6GJ.
Another side who were league champions in the 2017/18 season are the next opponents for the Robins, this time in the form of Runcorn Linnets who won the North West Counties League last season with a staggering 100 points scoring 122 goals in the process. Some players missed out on Saturday’s game and look set to get another pre-season run out and will be looking to impress themselves ahead of the new season along with any trailists that play in this fixture.
ONE TO WATCH:
Freddie Potter is our one to watch for this encounter, by all accounts he was Linnets’ man of the match during their last game against Chester FC. Potter made his debut for the Cheshire side in December 2014 where he made a goal scoring appearance off the bench. Prior to his first spell with the Linnets, Potter spent time with Chester, Burscough and Cammell Laird. Potter started the 14/15 season with Cammell Laird and when he left to join Runcorn Linnets he was their top goalscorer with 23 goals in 19 games. During Freddie’s first spell in Runcorn he managed to score a very respectable 30 goals from 55 appearances before moving on to AFC Liverpool. The move to AFC Liverpool didn’t last long and by January 2017 he was back with Runcorn Linnets where he still is today.
