Buxton lead the way in the EVO-STIK League's Premier Division after inflicting a 5-1 defeat on Belper Town at Silverlands, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The comprehensive defeat saw the Nailers stay bottom of the table and lose manager Peter Duffield, who quit after the game.

Liam Hardy and Mark Reed both bagged braces for the Bucks, who only led 1-0 at break. Jamie Green sandwiched the other while Jon Froggatt scored the Nailers consolation.

Curzon Ashton are second after a hard-fought 1-0 win at Amblecote against a Stourbridge side who have now slipped out of the top five. Niall Cummins scored the only goal of the game after 27 minutes.

Skelmersdale United dropped to third after going down to a surprise 3-1 home defeat by improving Barwell.

Luke Barlone gave the Leicestershire visitors the lead immediately after half-time and then doubled it on 67 minutes. Danny Mitchley immediately replied for Skem, only for Jon Stevenson to add Barwell`s match-winning third nine minutes from time.

Rushall Olympic and Stamford AFC complete the top five, but only the Pics managed a win on Saturday.

They beat King`s Lynn Town 3-1 at Dales Lane, taking an 11th minute lead through Aaron Farrell, only for Jake Jones to pull Lynn back on terms nine minutes later. Farrell eventually restored the home side's advantage on 64 minutes, with a last-gasp Aaron Williams effort sealing it.

The Daniels took a 16th minute lead at home to Blyth Spartans. But a Richard Jones own goal brought the visitors back on level terms on the half-hour mark, and that`s how it ended.

A crowd of just under 2000 saw FC United of Manchester move into seventh spot after a 3-1 Bower Fold win over Grantham Town.

Matthew Wolfenden gave the Reds a great start with a goal inside three minutes. However, Jordan Hempenstall equalised shortly after the break. Wolfenden restored the hosts` advantage just past the hour-mark and then Callum Byrne added a third a minute from time.

Trafford made it an unhappy afternoon for recently-appointed Witton Albion boss Anthony Sheehan as they went nap at Wincham Park.

Andrew Smart gave Trafford a sixth minute lead that Shelton Payne doubled on 26 minutes. Witton then had Ant Gardner shown a straight red card two minutes later and Payne added number three from the resultant penalty. Witton then held firm until the final few seconds of the game when Michael Oates bagged a late brace.

Matlock Town sunk to third-bottom after losing 3-1 at the Weaver Stadium to Nantwich Town.

Aaron Burns bagged a brace for the Dabbers in the 35th and 66th minutes. Vinny Mukendi made it 3-0 with 11 minutes to go, with Joe Leesley scoring a consolation for the Gladiators a minute later.

Halesowen Town are level on points with Matlock after losing 1-0 at Hurst Cross against Ashton United, Kayde Coppin popping up with the match-winner for Ashton on the hour-mark.

Ramsbottom United leap-frogged Ilkeston FC in the table to ninth after a surprise 4-2 success at the New Manor Ground.

It was goalless until three minutes after half-time when Cedric Krou gave the visitors the breakthrough. Scott Burton doubled Rammy`s lead on 57 minutes, only for Che Adams to respond a minute later for Kevin Wilson`s side. But Jordan Hulme restored the visitors` two-goal lead on the hour-mark, only for a Dominic Smalley own goal to reduce that again to one. Tom Williams added Rammy`s fourth with 16 minutes to go.

Whitby Town and Marine AFC were locked on nine points when they met at the Turnbull Ground.

And when the Mariners raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Andy Fowler after 15 and 21 minutes – the second from the spot – it looked like they were going to take the honours. But the Seasiders fought back to level with goals from David McTiernan after 56 minutes and Matt Waters 10 minutes from time.
