Postponements Hurt

Following Saturday's postponement of the trip to Coalville Town for Ashton United's scheduled EvoStik Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture, the league has rescheduled the game for Tuesday 21st February 2017.

Time for fans and players to do their best to sweeten their employers with a view to them letting them off work early for the long journey South to Leicestershire.

Travel is difficult enough on a Saturday but it starts to hurt when long midweek fixtures are dropped into the schedule and clubs are faced with early afternoon starts to break the inevitable rush hour jams. Arriving home in the early hours of the morning is not the best way to start the working day either.

Here at Hurst Cross we are fortunate that we sit fairly central to the league territory, one can only imagine how hard it must be for clubs such as Blyth and Workington making the journeys week in and week out, and the likes of Corby and Barwell on occasion making the opposite trip.

Nobody likes postponements but it is as it is. Non league supporters are die hards through and through. I would venture to say that there will not be so many missing from the squad travelling to Coalville, nor will there be so many Robins supporters missing, that would have travelled to the original Saturday game.

As they say 'no pain, no gain'. The things you do for three points!
