James Burch takes a look at the form of Matt Chadwick.

Last weekends victory away at Nantwich Town was a complete team effort with the whole Ashton squad battling for each other. The score could have easily been six or seven instead of 3-1, if things had gone differently for the Robins.

During this team performance, one player stood out and sparked the game into life and that was 21 year-old winger Matt Chadwick, who bagged two goals and could have easily had more. Voted in last seasons Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division 'Team of the Year' for the 2013/14 season, Chadwick has failed to live up to last seasons high expectations but co-manager Paul Phillips believes from what he has seen 'Chaddy' is coming back to full form at just the right time; "I hope he's back to his best. He will admit that his form so far hasn't been up to his standards but in recent games i've seen glimpses that he is back to his best."

The month of October has been a good one for Ashton United and the former Radcliffe Borough midfielder so far. With the Robins picking up two wins and a draw in the league and Chadwick featuring in every game and creating chances aplenty.

Co-manager Phillips was influential in bringing Chadwick to the club in October 2013 and the boss believes if his player carries on playing the way he is it won't be too long before other teams sit up and take notice; "On his day he is a world beater and if he carries on putting in performances like he did at the weekend it won't be long before he is playing in a higher division."

Chadwick who scored 13 goals, 4 assists and 2 man of the match awards last years will hope to carry on his recent fine form as he faces Trafford on Tuesday night and table toppers Skelmersdale on Saturday, Phillips knows that these two games will be difficult and told the website; "We've watched both sides recently and they both set up well and play good football. We have faced all of the top six so far and we've only beaten ourselves with mistakes so we are confident."
