ONE TO WATCH:
Rob Hopley is the one to watch in Saturday’s fixture. The 32 year old started his career at Macclesfield Town as a youth player before moving to Winsford United, where he finished the North west Counties League Championship top scorer, Hopley then had a brief stint at Leek Town before moving on to Colwyn Bay where he spent eight seasons apart from a short spell at Chester FC in between, similar to at Winsford, Hopley was the club’s top scorer except this time in the Conference North. In November 2015 he joined current club Witton Albion and scored 47 goals in his first 75 games for Witton, so far this season he has scored 10 goals in 27 outings.
PREVIOUSLY AT THE WINCHAM PARK;
It was disastrous for Ashton, the last time the Robins visited Wincham Park. It took nearly an hour for this game to kick-start as Danny Andrews opened the scoring for Witton on 55 minutes and it took just four minutes for him to score his second of the game. It then got even worse for Ashton as on the 63rd minute Clarke scored to make Witton three goals to the good. And within ten minutes Ashton had narrowed the deficit courtesty goals from Chris Baguley and Dale Johnson. On the 78th minute mark Witton were back ahead by Danny Andrews. But that wasn’t the end of the action, Ashton manager Paul Phillips saw red and shortly after Andrews finished the scoring for Witton to secure a 5-2 victory for the hosts.
