The Squad Takes Shape
Robins Fans entertained By New Look Squad Report by Dave Robinson
Conference side Hyde took the spoils from an entertaining encounter at Hurst Cross. The visitors featuring several triallists had the first opportunity as Hughes went past a couple of defenders before being denied by Phillips and at the other end Logan’s free kick fell to Lynch whose effort was blocked.
A short back pass then put a Hyde forward in the clear only to be foiled by Phillips and Chris Baguley robbed the Hyde keeper before firing over an open goal and this was followed by a dipping effort from 20 yards by Joe O’Neill which was held by Frith.
Phillips rescued Ashton from another underhit back pass before O’Neill spread the ball wide to Logan who went down under challenge for a clear penalty confidently converted by Gee.
The game had only just restarted when Brazil fired in a tremendous effort from 25 yards for the equaliser and shortly afterwards the Tigers took the lead as substitute Mainwaring provided a fine left foot finish from the edge of the area. In between Pearson’s cross from the byline was flicked wide by Joe O’Neill and then the other O’Neill Matty saw his cross flicked wide of the near post by Kyle Riley.
Substitute Moke cut inside before firing over the bar before Hyde came closest to extending their lead as Deacy’s cracking effort was turned away by the keeper.
