Hyde fielded a squad of 16/21 trialists to try and overcome a familiar looking Robins side, who fought well to earn a draw.
1st Half Report by Andrew Jones
The second pre-season match began with an thrilling encounter against local rivals Hyde, as the two sides played quick attacking football throughout the game which ended 3-3.
Ashton United started well with winger Mathew Chadwick giving the opposition a lot to think about with his direct runs and quick acceleration to the box. Chadwick and Paria Armadi were on the same wave length in the first goal, 17 minutes into the game as they linked up well with a great one-two which was spread out wide to Mark Haslam who accurately crossed into the front post to Chadwick who applied a great sliding finish into the bottom left corner.
The game was very end to end as Hyde searched for an equalizer which came just before half time when a corner kick swung into the far post by Hyde's Steve Tames was fumbled by the Ashton goalkeeper and followed up by the Hyde's centre back, a 'trailist' from two yards out.
2nd Half Report by Sheikh Kinteh
The Robin's flew out of the blocks in the second half with a quick goal by Dimitri Tuaniebe as he applied a good sliding finish inside the penalty area, into the bottom left corner, from a near post cross on the right wing.
Hyde quickly responded to that goal with a goal of their own just 90 seconds after going down with a close range tap in by another 'trailist' who was their fullback.
The two early goals sparked an end to end game with both teams capitalising on the fresh attacking legs on the pitch.
Ashton United went in front again in the 70th minute when a bad back pass was cleared off the line by the Hyde goalkeeper straight to Ashton winger, Demaine Rouse. Rouse found Tuaniebe whose shot was blocked and Richard Bennett applied a great curling shot into the right hand corner, which hit the post and nestled in the other side of the goal.
Hyde once again were quick to respond when a third 'trailist' Lloyd Dube turned away from some tight midfield marking and took a great shot with the outside of his foot, which sailed over the head of the Ashton United substitute goalkeeper from 25 yards out.
Rouse had a chance to win the game on the 89th minute when he controlled a great flick on by Bennett and cut in to fire agonisingly wide of the right corner.
Next up for the Robins is an away pre-season match at Abbey Hey on Saturday 19th July.
