Chadderton 2-3 Ashton United
Ashton United Continued their pre-season schedule with a 3-2 win at Chadderton FC.
Goals from Peter Wright, a triallist and Aaron Burns from the spot ensured Ashton won this friendly on a bobbly pitch, but Chadderton gave an excellent account of themselves and had they taken their chances could have secured a more positive result for themselves.
United dominated early doors and Peter Wright produced an excellent turn and shot following good work from Sam Madeley and Chris Amadi to make it 1-0.
It was soon 2-0 as Ben Smith floated an excellent free kick into the box which was expertly floated home by one of the trial players in action for the club.
However Chadderton then produced their own spell of good play and after pulling a screamer of a goal back had a couple of good chances of their own to level the scores.
It wasn't until the second half that Ashton made the result safe. Jonathon Bathurst was bundled over just inside the area and Aaron Burns stepped up to score the Robins' third.
To their credit Chadderton never gave up and scored another scorcher later in the game, but United held on to secure their second win from their two games in pre-season.
