Robin(son) Returns

3 years ago By Steve Hobson

Brad Robinson speaks to James Burch about his return to Hurst Cross.

“I’ve realised I am surrounded by a top group of lads that all have a mentality to win!” Brad Robinson, Midfielder.

Having played twenty one times for Ashton United this season and failing to play the whole ninety minutes in any of these games, Brad Robinson has stated he is full of confidence and more confident than ever.

21 year-old Robinson has been at the likes of Manchester City and Salford City and the midfielder has real talent. Having returned from a loan spell with 8th tier side New Mills, ‘Robbo’ is happy again and has started two of the last three games for the team;

“I’m happier than ever at Ashton United. After being left out of the side it was tough but I’m enjoying being back and it’s great to be getting a lot more minutes on the field now.”

Adding; “After being loaned out to New Mills, it made me realise that I am happy at Ashton and it really is a great club.”

Robinson failed to register much playing time with the Millers, due to postponements between late November and December. However he gained confidence and fitness and is now seemingly reaping the rewards at Hurst Cross; “I feel confident about my game now. I went away to New Mills and gained fitness and strength despite not playing much.”

Robinson continued by saying; “I’ve been back at Ashton for a month now. It’s a lot better than it was last time. It’s what I like to see!"

Despite his time out of the side, Robinson’s quality is clear to see and the local lad is clearly a prized asset in the side, having played more times this year than the likes of Lee Rick (since his return) and Mark Haslam who are classed as regulars.

Speaking in a buoyant mood Robinson finished by saying he has unfinished business at Hurst Cross and has his eyes fixed on winning the league; “I’m so happy to be back in the squad playing regularly. I want to win as many games as possible and hopefully that will win us the league. If not the play-offs.”
