Bad weather did not deter

The Ash United Memorial Match, played between two teams of former Ash United "legends" was played in pretty poor weather conditions on Sunday 14th October, but it didn't stop the game being a success and spectators still enjoyed themselves.

The Club is very grateful to both sets of players and their respective managers on the day - PAUL BONNER and JAMIE HORTON - to referee DANIEL BISHOP and his assistants. We are also pleased to thank Badshot Lea FC Chairman, MARK BROAD, a former Ash United player himself, for running a Silent Auction and to many of our current club sponsors who donated to the auction/raffle.

Most of all it was wonderful to see the support from the terraces for the match in honour of two good former servants of the club, who passed away, one in tragic circumstances, not that long ago - STUART (BUNTER) WOODHOUSE and ALEX SMITH-GANDER, RIP.

Tributes notwithstanding, we should also say a big thank you to Gareth Watmore, who, along with fellow committee member, Paul Burch and club chairman, Kevin Josey, made sure the day went well. Special thanks to Jackie Jones who staffed the club kitchen throughout.
