Last Saturday saw the U12's play their last league match of the season and win division 6. Although the other teams in the division still have matches to play, Ash United secured the top spot by beating Bourne Blades Badgers. In a remarkable turnaround from last year's performance, where they struggled to win any matches, the boys only lost 2 league matches this season.
Following on from their first tournament win in the summer, the team has shown an increase in confidence, which has reflected in their ability on the pitch. They have gelled together as a team, becoming more aware of each other's strengths and weaknesses, and learning how to hold their positions to give the team width in attack.
They finish their season with a run of friendly matches against teams from division 5, which will be a good indicator of how well they have improved.
I have seen these boys progress over 3 seasons, in skill and confidence, and I couldn't be more proud of the achievements they have made. They never let the losses get them down, they held their heads high and worked hard to improve, and that hard work has paid off.
