The Drive For 3rd Place

..is now on

This has been a turbulent season but the drive to the finish line is now on. Picking up 12 points out of 12 in the last 4 games had given the lads a boost coming into this game.

We lost 3-2 to these guys early in the season, then we had 10 players plus an injured Burley and a very rare pen miss by Tim. Since then those two have gone from strength to strength scoring 22 and 21 goals respectively.

Missing 7 players due to work etc it was going to be a dog fight but the lads were up for it. An extremely tight 15/20 mins saw both sides have chances and weirdly we looked tired. The deadlock was broken following a freekick from Jambo, a well placed drive forward found Tim who turned and dipped the ball up and over the keeper. 1-0 and now Tim on 22 goals. Darby Green angry with that goal pushed forward more with their no 11 being a pain and making chances. The lead was doubled towards the end of the half when some bizarre defending by the opps found the keeper passing the ball to Burley who skipped around him and rolled in the ball. 2-0 Burley now leading with 23 goals.

Second half Darby Green laid siege to the Ash goal. Persistent balls forward chances and shots at goal found Jambo in find form and in no mood to concede. A chance for Ash to break with some inter player play resulting in MOTM Dan Harvey finding the net 3-0. The game then became one of school playground tatics with Darby throwing everything forward and Ash having counter attack chances. On such chance resulted in a corner. Over it came, Brett chested it down and poked it home 4-0. Several more chances for both sides came and went.

FULL TIME 4-0 : A brilliant team effort guys. Next year looks very positive.
