Ash United FC 3 Milton United 1 – FA Vase

Confidence was sky high on the back of a great away league win at AC London, as we had now put together 4 straight wins.
We started the game really well and were creating some good chances without threatening the Milton keeper. Milton United were playing on the counter attack and were causing us some problems by crossing deep and putting the defence under pressure. Jamie Cunningham was alive to this in the Ash United goal and was able to calm the back four with his presence. After about 35 minutes we broke through the middle which ended up in Neil Hardy scoring at the far post only for it to be ruled out for offside.
We didn’t let that affect us and just before half time we took the lead after a quick free kick allowed Richard Lediju to score, 1 – 0 at half time.
We started the second half by pressing nice and high however we were giving away silly free kicks which were allowing Milton United to send up their big lads from the back. It was from a free kick that Milton United equalised when Jordan Devanney put through his own net 1 – 1. On the hour mark I decided to bring on Paul Douglass for his debut and Jack Howard, this changed the balance of play back into our favour.
We were having loads of possession and creating good chances, Milton couldn’t contain our wingers and we were getting plenty of crosses into the Milton box. Eventually Richard Lediju made 2 – 1 after he headed home a Neil Hardy cross on 76 minutes. We kept on pressing, trying to kill the game off and on 88 minutes with Milton United trying to get an equaliser, Jack Howard scored from the edge of the area to make it 3 – 1, that made me really relaxed for the last few minutes for a change.
Another very good performance and that now makes it 5 wins in a row. We face Cobham at home on Saturday which will be another stern test.
