A's make it three from three
Askeans travel to Whitstable to make it three league victories from three games
Askeans travelled to Whitstable for their three league game of the 2014-2015 season. The bright autumn sunshine was quite a stark difference from the muddy battle the year before. Whitstable were missing a number of first team starters through injuries and after losing their first league game (having a Bye for the second league week), they were keen to start their home campaign with a win.
Askeans started strongly with Sam Adams making the most of a fumbled lose ball and scoring Askeans first try. Andrew Jeffrey sealed the conversion from the 5m line. Joe Blackman scored Askeans second try with a splendid interception, and Andy easily converting. Chris Hayes took a quick tap and go from a penalty about 10m from the try line. Another conversion for Andy Jeffrey meant the score going into half time was 21-0.
Whitstable came back in the second half with some excellent pressure and solid defence. Their efforts paid off when their scrum half took a quick tap and go from a penalty saw A's napping and allowed the try to be scored. Conversion scored.
With Askeans pushing for a bonus point try, and Whitstable seemingly absorbing all the pressure, bizarrely the game was cut 10 minutes short. Believe to be an administrative error (ref sure that full 80 mins were played), the final score was 21-7 to Askeans
With two weeks off, Askeans are now preparing for their next league fixture at home to new relegated Shooters Hill
