Calling Veteran Hornets

National Masters Festival to be held at Wath Brow. The last quotation may interest a few Aspatria stalwarts.

Sunday 29th July 2012 will see Wath Brow hornets host a National Masters festival, with two teams travelling from outside of the County to take on the Cumbrian competition.

The two teams making their way up to Cumbria are Blackpool and the Bahtah’s. The Bah’tahs Masters team are a band of hardened Masters born out of the 2009 Australia touring party. They have planned a full year of fixtures out throughout 2012, taking their love for the game around the country to help develop the sport in other regions.

Cumbria will be entering two teams into the competition, but are still in need of players to help join their ranks. If you are over 35 years of age and are interested in playing in the Masters, then there is plenty of space to accommodate players.

Masters is strictly a social version of the sport and the rules are slightly modified to cater for the older player. There are no winners, no champions and no cup finals. Masters is about is the spirit of the game. The most important rule is “everyone has to buy a drink for their opposite number.”

If you are interested in playing in the competition then please contact Paul on 07889354347 or alternatively paull@lcwc.ac.uk . The competition will run from 1pm on Sunday 29th July 2012.
