7s and a trip North of the Border on the agenda

These fixtures will give our squad some much needed game time in what is a lean period for us.
- Greg Rowley - Head Coach

Aspatria will venture off the beaten track in the next month or so with forays into the world of rugby union 7s and also a trip to the 'Athens of the North', to take on leading Scottish outfit, Edinburgh Eagles in a friendly.

With June and July's fixture list looking sparse, Aspatria decided to use this opportunity to get some game time pencilled in and the two opportunities fit the bill.

First up is the Wigton RUFC 7s tournament on Sunday, 17th June. The action starts at 1pm and given that it's just down the road there is no excuse for not coming along and supporting the boys.

On the 14th July, Aspatria make the slightly longer trip to Edinburgh to face the Eagles. The Scottish outfit are led by Cumbrian (albeit from Barrow!), Barry McGuffog and are making some headlines in the North-East league at the moment, reaching the NE Cup semi-final.

The game will be a very useful hit-out against some tough opposition and keep the Hornets sharp as they approach the business end of the Iggesund Cumberland League season.
