A place in the CARL Cup Final at stake

Aspatria make the trip to the west coast on Saturday in the semi-final of the CARL Cup and face a tough challenge at Kells.

Aspatria had a bye in the previous round and Kells left it late to fight off a resurgent Flimby Vikings to register a 30-28 win.

Kells is always a tough place to visit and Aspatria will have to be on their guard for the full 80 minutes if they are to stand a chance to progress to the final. The Hornets were beaten in the dying seconds of the corresponding league encounter in July as Kells scored at the death to dent Aspatria’s title hopes. Coach Rowley will be hoping that lightening does not strike twice.

On the team news front, Mark Irwin will face a late fitness test on the rib injury he sustained against Distington a few weeks ago. Other than that, the usual summer distractions will cause a few selection headaches.

Got the afternoon spare? Get through and support the lads. 2.30pm kick-off.
