Soaks Players Set Sail for World Championships

Associates RUFC Life Member Bob Hunter presented Premier Grade jumpers to the team members on the last Thursday training night prior to the commencement of the 2012 rugby season competition.

In addition, Soaks representative jumpers were presented on behalf of the Club to Soaks sailors Luke [“Parko”] Parkinson and Jasper [“Fang”] Warren who are setting off at the end of this month for Croatia to compete in the 49er World Championships.

Both Parko and Fang are long term Soaks members who commenced their rugby careers with Soaks Juniors. They progressed through the ranks to be part of the 2009 Colts Premiership Team and thence to senior grades where both have regularly played in the Premier Grade team.

Parko and Fang have participated in a wide variety of sailing activities during their sailing development ranging from skiff to ocean racing. Their racing experience includes considerable travelling to various regattas including Ireland, Spain, America, Philippines and Malaysia.

Both have enjoyed considerable success during their sailing career and including Australian and World Championships titles.

The 49er World Championships Regatta commences in Zadia, Croatia on the 5 May.
