This coming Saturday will see Paul Bradley reach a major landmark, as he plays his 1000th game for Aston.

Having just reached the age of 15, Paul made his club debut on 22nd January 1983 for AOE 6th XV against Bournville. The other players in the side that went down 16-12 that day included his father Roy, John Cooper, Colin Hadley, Brian Hepburn, Colin Hiller, Brian Hopkins, S Jordan, Andy Markham, Terry Rainbow, John Rhodes, Ernie Smith, Rob Wood, Ian Watson and M Brough.

Paul continued to play for the lower sides for the next 2 years, alongside playing for the Colts, for whom he made over 100 appearances. He was a member of "The Invincibles" Colts side that won the North Mids Cup in 1985/86.

Paul's 1st XV debut came on 27th April 1985 against Old Centrals, where the side was

Paul gained his 1st XV tie the following season as a 17 year old, when he played full back for the senior side in 17 matches. Five seasons later, Paul re-gained his 1st XV tie, by playing 15 games as a flanker.

Since then, Paul has played for all sides, from 1sts to 5ths, and in almost every position - all with the same level of commitment, enthusiasm, and enjoyment. He was a member of the victorious 2nd XV that lifted the Kidderminster Cup in 2005.

Paul has also been on every Rugby Tour since he started at Aston, and very rarely misses a match through injury, despite his sometimes kamikaze tackling.

With no sign of stopping, Paul now reaches the 4 figure mark in matches for Aston Old Edwardians, a record that very few players in the country attain, and quite possibly one that no-one else has reached for Aston.

Congratulations Paul
