Talbot had the best of starts when Joe Andrews set up Michael Reilly who slotted past the keeper in only 6 minutes. This seemed to spur the Talbot on and for long periods they had the visitord pinned back. However on the 23rd minute the Ant's were back in the game when a perfect volley gave Leishman no chance.

7 minutes later Talbot were back in lead when Reilly rose above the visiting defence to nod a Young corner into the back of the net. The game became rather competive after this and the first half fizzled out with no more scoring.

The visitors started quite brightly in the second hald and Mackie had a great chance to level when he beat Robb and Leishman to the ball but his shot just slipped past the post. On the 50th minute the woodwork stopped Talbot taking a bigger lead when Young cracked the bar from some distance.

It was 3-1 0n the 68th minute when the Ant's defenced cleared a Young corner where it was collected by Spence who found Lyle and his cross was headed past the keeper by Martin Mcgoldrick. On 79 minutes Robb nearly added to the scoreline with a decent header but it was held by the keeper. With 7 minutes remaining Talbot made it 4-1 when Pope, Milliken, and McGoldrick combined to set up Young and he made no mistake.

The rout was completed on the 87th minute when Mcgoldrick went on a solo run which ended with the ball in the back of the net.
