Witham Town 0-5 Aveley
Haringey Borough 3-1 Aveley
Harlow Town 4-1 Aveley
This February month started really well for the Millers who followed on the victory away at Phoenix Sports with two more clean sheets to make it three on the trot. However, a poor performance against Haringey followed by a controversial defeat away at Harlow Town.
We’ve never been able to defeat the Jammers in the league and that continued with a successive draw at Mill Field from last seasons 1-1 draw and now this campaign's 0-0 carried on that rather unfortunate stat. The Jammers had the best chances of the match but they just couldn’t convert any with James Marrable in good form between the sticks.
With the next match the Millers scored five or more goals for the sixth time in this high scoring campaign. Alex Teniola got Aveley off to a flyer after good work from Michael Pindy down the left hand side.
It took until the second half to get the breathing space with the Millers running riot. Liam Nash got the Millers second after he left the defender for dead and beat the keeper at his near post. That was soon followed by David Fallah with his first touch from a corner smashing past the keeper.
Billy Coyne then popped up with an assist setting up Arian Retkoceri to score our fourth. We rounded off the rout as David Fallah nodded in from a few yards out after good work from Liam Nash. It really could’ve been more than five but Witham’s keeper had a blinder and made four exceptional saves.
The next two matches in this month didn’t exactly go to plan. The match away at Haringey was a strange one. Due to the weather Coles Park was deemed unplayable and it was moved to Tilbury’s ground.
After winning their earlier in the year I thought that we’d be able to use that to our advantage but unfortunately Haringey came out on top. Adam Scotcher rounded Bobby Mason to put Boro 1-0 in front and they managed to double their lead soon after the first, Scotcher involved again when he squared it to Macdonald who tapped in from six yards out. In the second half a goal of the season contender came in from Haringey as Wiler volleyed in from 35 yards out to make it 3-0 Haringey.
Liam Nash had the chance to pull one back with 15 minutes left but he hit the inside of the post from the penalty spot after an infringement from Wilson. Nashey did eventually get his goal and it was a wonderful one, he dribbled round three players and placed it past Harris in the Borough goal.
The last game of the month came away at Harlow Town. It was a controversial game to say the least. The hawks took the lead after Alex Read pulled it across the six yard box for Junior Dadson to tap home into the back of the net.
Millers came back well and Liam Nash scored with a right footed finish from 12 yards out. On the stroke of halftime Harlow should’ve been down to ten men as David Fallah was taken down through on goal. Instead of blowing for the foul and red card the referee blew for half time, to the astonishment of the Aveley players, staff and fans. The second half almost went to plan, we had the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot but Arian Retkoceri fired over the bar. After that miss goals from; Read, Sonko and Simms rounded off a 4-1 victory for the hosts.
