Aveley are pleased to announce that Jamie Manktelow will be joining the club as its new Match-Day Media Officer for the 2014/15 season.

Manktelow, 19, will begin his media duties immediately having already attended the Millers’ first pre-season game at St. Neots Town last Saturday.

When asked how he heard about the opportunity to join at Mill Field, Manktelow said “I was on Twitter and saw the Aveley club photographer tweet about the role.

“I knew the club wasn’t too far from where I lived and thought it would be something I’d really like to do so I contacted the club and here I am.”

Prior to joining at Aveley, Manktelow was producer and editor of Test Match Sofa and is one of three friends who run the @MrNonLeague Twitter account.

The Southend United fan, who resides in Hornchurch, was also a producer and presenter of a show on Radio Jackie in West London, and he has a good feeling about the upcoming season.

“Having spoken to Justin and the staff on Saturday it sounds like everyone is going in a lot more committed and showing a lot more effort this campaign” said Manktelow.

“With the new stadium around the corner it looks like it’s putting the emphasis on the players to really perform this season with the aim of getting promoted.

“And I’ve got a good feeling that they may well just achieve that.”

As one of three involved with the @MrNonLeague Twitter account, Manktelow is familiar with Mill Field having visited the Thurrock club previously.

And when asked what he’s most looking forward to about this coming season at the club, he said simply “the football – I just love watching football, especially in non-league.”

All at the club would like to welcome Jamie to Aveley and Mill Field and wish him all the best for his coming season, which will hopefully be a memorable one for all involved at the football club.
